Introduced by the mid-1950s, the MA-1 became the flight jacket of U.S. Air Force and Navy pilots and ground crew.

Product Details

An addition to the jacket in 1960 was the reversibility to show off an Indian Orange lining. The reason being if a plane crashed, the pilot could reverse the jacket to the orange side to signal rescue personnel. Alpha Industries' first government contract for the MA-1 was awarded in 1963. They started producing the MA-1 flight jacket for the civilian population in the 1970s.

  • The versatile Alpha Industries™ MA-1 Flight Jacket Standard Fit is crafted from a water-resistant flight nylon shell that reverses to a high-visibility emergency orange color.
  • The standard, true-to-size fit style is moderately fitting on the body and sleeves and generally falls at waist length.
  • Durable water-resistant woven shell protects during mild, wet conditions.
  • Rib trim at the baseball collar, long sleeves, and straight hem.
  • Suitable for mild or colder winter climates ranging 25F to 40F.
  • Pockets:
    • Signature zipper utility/pencil pocket on left sleeve with red "Remove Before Flight" tag.
    • Snap-button hand pockets at the exterior and reverse.
  • NASA patches featured throughout.

If your purchase is not working for you, you may notify us and return the item at your expense with 10 business days of receiving the order (Not included with limited release items). Any returned items will be subject to a 15% restocking Fee.

Why we charge a restocking fee? Our Credit card processing company charges a fee for every transaction processed. Even if we refund you the initial charge, we still are charged a fee. 

Merchandise may be exchanged with an original sales receipt when the items are:

  • Unworn, in original condition;
  • Returned with price tags still attached (if the returned item is apparel or accessories); 
  • Returned in their original undamaged box (if the returned item is footwear); and
  • Returned within 10 days* of the original purchase.
  • In the event of a returned packaged, the customer is responsible for shipping item back to Eight One. Eight One will not provide a return label.
  • Returned items may be exchanged or you may opt for store credit.

SHIPPING

Orders are typically processed 24-48 hours after payment is received, excluding weekends and holidays. Minor shipping delays may occur after a limited product launch.  
  • Eight One is not responsible for damage to packages that occur during shipping and handling by our couriers
  • Orders ship via UPS Monday, Wednesday, and Friday excluding holidays
  • In the event of a returned packaged, the customer is responsible for shipping item back to Eight One. Eight One will not provide a return label. 
  • Orders with incorrect shipping information may experience delayed shipping times
  • Estimated delivery time is approximately 3-5 business days after shipping for all domestic orders
  • Estimated delivery time is approximately 3-4 weeks after shipping for all international orders
  • For international orders, customers will be responsible for any duty or customs fees

IN STORE PICK UP

We process online orders sequentially as they are received and we typically process within 24-48 hours after the order is received (not including Sundays and holidays). Once your order is ready, you will receive an automated email notifying you that your order is ready for pick up. You can pick up your order anytime during our normal business hours of 12-7pm M-Sat. Please note orders might experience a slight delay in processing for limited release product.
